This pattern imitates the amber colored chironomid. It is also a very good pattern in larger sizes to imitate bomber chironomids in the summer months. The orange color also know as summer duck gives the fly its name. The fly represents the pupa state of the chironomid (midge) which is available throughout the open water season. Try this pattern on a competition scud hook or the new curved nymph hook. Fish them under an indicator on a floating line or deep on a full sink line.
