This Phil Rowley pattern is based on the origninal by California fly tyer and guide Mickey Baron. It has a a dark claret body with black ribbing is a excellent imitation of a wine/maroonchironomid. The fly represents the pupa state of the chironomid (midge) which is available throughout the open water season. Try this pattern on a competition scud hook or the curved nymph hook. Fish them under an indicator on a floating line or deep on a full sink line.
